Volunteers
Volunteers are the soul of our organisation, helping us to deliver services that would just not be possible without their support. We are very grateful for the time and commitment that our volunteers provide, whether it be for a few hours a week or month, to some supporting several days a week, to helping on a more ad-hoc basis at some of our events. The choice really is down to you and what suits your lifestyle.
Our volunteers help in many different ways at several locations.
Our Day Hospice volunteer opportunities include befrienders, drivers, complementary therapists, councillors, beauty therapists and activity organisers, such as arts and crafts. Our Day Hospice volunteers currently also complete the NHS Lanarkshire Volunteer Recruitment process as well as our own.
Our shop volunteers work in four hour shifts providing cover for us to open our current two stores in East Kilbride over 7 days. The role of a shop volunteer is a busy, and often strenuous one, with some physical strength required to assist with sorting donations, preparing goods for the sales floor, replenishing stock and providing a high level of service for our customers.
We also require delivery driver volunteers to support our retail outlets by supporting the collection and delivery service we offer, either for goods being donated to our shops, or for larger purchases that supporters have made. Delivery drivers are supported by our full-time delivery driver, with volunteers required each day. The work can often be strenuous, so a good level of physical strength and mobility is required for this position.
Our main hospice office also require assistance from a number of volunteers, with opportunities including administration, database support, charity can distribution and collection, fundraising support, along with ad-hoc events support. Please get in touch for an informal chat about the range of volunteering positions available.
