There’s no sign of things letting up for Christmas, at least not this week for Kilbryde Hospice staff and volunteers.
The culmination of Kilbryde Hospice’s inaugural Light A Light campaign sees supporters of the hospice attending a brief Tree of Remembrance Lighting Ceremony on Monday 5 December at 6.30pm in The Kilbryde Hospice Shop, in the East Kilbride Shopping Centre. The 30 mins ceremony will include a few words from Dr Nagy Iskander, co-founder of the JAM Trust and Dennis Gallagher, Chairman of Kilbryde Hospice. The ceremony will also feature a performance of Christmas carols from the senior choir from Hamilton College. Dennis said, “The act of dedicating a light on the Kilbryde Hospice Tree of Remembrance for someone special seems to have struck a chord with the people of South Lanarkshire. This ceremony will allow us all a quiet moment to reflect and remember those who are, for whatever reason, unable to be with us this Christmas. Do join us.”
Then on Tuesday 6 December, patients and volunteers from Kilbryde Hospice’s day hospice are holding a Christmas Craft Stall at the NHS Lanarkshire Red Deer Centre from 11.00am – 3.00pm. A selection of cards, flower arrangements and toiletries hand-crafted by patients and volunteers from the craft classes will be sold to raise money for Kilbryde Hospice.
Finally, on Friday 9 December, the Kilbryde Hospice Shop in the East Kilbride Shopping Centre will hold a Christmas coffee morning featuring a range of mouth-watering home-baking exquisitely made by staff and volunteers. If this event is anything like the Halloween coffee morning, then this event is sure to be a resounding success. As Leanne Henderson, Kilbryde Hospice Shop Manager explained, “Staff and customers were having so much fun, and there were so many beautiful cakes, that the Halloween coffee morning didn’t end until 5 o’clock! I’d like to thank everyone that supported the event – we raised more than £600 on the day.”
