23/11/2011: Walk on fire for Kilbryde Hospice
My Image

Do you think you have what it takes to walk over burning hot coals? If so, you’re just the sort of person Kilbryde Hospice are after. On Sunday 4th March 2012 Kilbryde Hospice will host the first ever Kilbryde Hospice Firewalk in the grounds of Holiday Inn, East Kilbride.

Imagine walking over 20ft of hot embers with a mean temperature of 1236°F. To put this into perspective paper combusts at 451°F and aluminium melts at 1100°F! A firewalk is both challenging and rewarding. Not only are you undertaking a wonderful thing for Kilbryde Hospice, but you’re also achieving something wonderful for yourself – if you can walk on hot coals, what is there you can’t do? All Kilbryde Hospice ask of you is that you commit to raise £200 for the charity.

Stuart Glen, Fundraising Manager with Kilbryde Hospice (and certified firewalker himself) said, “I’m proud to launch Kilbryde Hospice’s first ever firewalk in partnership with the Holiday Inn, East Kilbride. Having undertaken the challenge myself, I know what an exhilarating and liberating experience walking on fire is. For those Kilbryde Hospice supporters that are interested in doing it themselves, I’ll support you all the way with tips and advice. In the meantime, you can find out more by downloading the Kilbryde Hospice Firewalk pack from the Kilbryde Hospice website.”

Donna Hegarty, Business Development Manager with Kilbryde Hospice added, “The Kilbryde Hospice Firewalk is the first in a series of exciting and appealing events planned by Kilbryde Hospice in 2012. Next year, will be a momentous year for Kilbryde Hospice, with the construction of South Lanarkshire’s first in-patient hospice due to begin in spring 2012.

The firewalk is being held in the grounds of the Holiday Inn, East Kilbride on Sunday 4th March 2012 at 6.30pm. Pamela Wright, Sales Manager at the Holiday Inn, East Kilbride – who herself has already signed up to undertake the challenge for Kilbryde Hospice – added, “How could we not support this event? It sounds so much fun. I’m definitely doing it! The need for South Lanarkshire to have its own local hospice is undeniable and as long-time supporters of Kilbryde Hospice we’re pleased to see the developments planned for next year. We hope that this will be the first of many fundraising events with Kilbryde Hospice next year.”

Demand for the Kilbryde Hospice Firewalk is likely to be high, so to reserve your place (as limited places will be available) you simply pay a £20.00 deposit to Kilbryde Hospice. You can pay the deposit by credit card, debit card or cheque (cheque made payable to Kilbryde Hospice) either over the phone or by mail – Kilbryde Hospice, Hamilton International Technology Park, 4 Bell Drive, Blantyre G72 0FB.
